The NFL has awarded Schuylkill Valley a gold football in recognition of this achievement. Dr. Kreider played football at Schuylkill Valley and at Lehigh University, where he captured a NCAA Championship and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering. He played in the NFL for 8 years as a receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals and played in the 1982 Super Bowl. During his football playing career, Kreider earned a Master's Degree in Quantitative Analysis and a PhD in Finance. He currently works as a Chief investment Officer for Western & Southern Financial Group, overseeing more than $46 billion in investments.
During the recognition assembly at the high school, Dr. Kreider talked to the students about doing things you love and having a purpose in life. He told stories from high school and informed the students that he was sitting in the same seats they were as a 9th grader new to Schuylkill Valley. His talk was inspirational and motivational, and served as an excellent reminder of what students can do after high school.
The Schuylkill Valley community is very proud of Steve Kreider and all he has accomplished as a graduate.
